Life List

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

I find this quote amazing! I tend to try and live my life day by day, in hopes of not regretting anything later. As they say, tomorrow is never promised. Therefore, I like to live in the now and make sure I make the most of it.

Last year, I started my own 'Life List' after watching the movie The Bucket List. I loved the movie and truly enjoyed the concept. Prior to watching it, I had always wanted to start a bucket list of sorts, but never got around to it. The movie just put the icing on the cake and I jumped on making my list right away. Then, MTV's new show, The Buried Life has hit the scene and everybody is sharing and putting their list out there. So I figured I'd share some of my things and hope you all post some of your things in the comments section as well! Who knows, perhaps we can complete some things on our list together!

Well, here you go, these are just a few of the many things I have listed thus far;
  1. Visit Cuba
  2. Publish a Novel
  3. Get Diving Certification
  4. Establish a Russo Scholarship/foundation
  5. Climb Everest
  6. Live 1 year Abroad
  7. Go on a Helicopter ride
  8. Climb an Active Volcano
  9. Participate in Burning Man
  10. Own a Horse
  11. See the Great Barrier Reef
  12. Be in both Hemispheres at once
Those are just a few of mine, now share yours below! Also, make sure to check out The Buried Life on MTV on Monday night at 10pm! I've seen the first two episodes and it's a must see! Not only are they completing their own list, they also help one stranger per episode do something they want to do before they die. It's a truly awesome show and they are doing a great thing. Check out their website and start your own list as well!

Peace & Make sure to live your life to the fullest!

Help Haiti

I've been staying away from posting about what's going on in Haiti, but I couldn't help it anymore. I didn't want to see any images until I was down in Haiti physically helping the cause. Unfortunately, the Spring semester is right around the corner and my desire/want to go down to Haiti and help is slowly leaving the realm of reality for me.

A friend posted an article from the LA Times which included pictures of post-earthquake Haiti. I checked it out and was extremely sadden by them. I knew it was bad, but there's nothing like viewing these pictures and not being able to help.

Sure, we can donate and do some volunteer work here in the states to help the relief efforts which are happening down there, but I can't help but feel like I could be doing so much more. I'm 6"4' and 230 pounds; even though I don't have any medical training, I sure as hell can do heavy lifting! Either way, I'm dedicated to helping out in whatever other way I can and here are some ways you can help out as well:
  • SMS text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts
  • SMS text “YELE” to 501501 to Donate $5 to Yele Haiti’s Earthquake Relief efforts
  • SMS text "GIVE10" to 20222 to donate $10 to Direct Relief
  • Go to http://www.google.com/relief/haitiearthquake/ for more ways of helping out
  • Keep an eye out on MatadorChange.com for updates on volunteer efforts which are being created nationally.
  • Also, Twitter has been EXTREMELY active with info on events, charities, donation sites, and so forth...so if your not on it yet, make sure to check it out!
Now, here are two pictures from that article...please make sure to help out in whichever way possible!!! United we stand, but divided we fall! Let's STAND TOGETHER!

This shows a father holding his sleeping son as Haitians sleep outside in parks because they no longer have homes to go to. Some still have houses to return to, but rather not in case of another quake.
This is just one of many pictures depicting the damage done by the massive 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti.

They need us now more then ever people. Have a heart. Go support!

Trick 'R Treat

So I had dinner at my goddaughter's house the other day and decided to watch a movie after stuffing ourselves with lasagna. For some reason I wanted to watch something spooky and noticed she had the Trick 'R Treat movie I had heard about online a while back. Now the trailer, as you can see below, made me want to check this film out. It looked 'old-school' scary. Like what a real horror film should be. Check it out for yourselves.

Since I don't want to give anything anyway, I'll just recommend you check it out for yourself. The film and trailer do a great job at set up and make you think you'll know what's happening. However, it's full of surprises and twist and turns. Go watch. Enjoy and report back!

*Thanks again to Trailer Addict for the trailer.**

Nightmare on Elm Street Trailer

Thanks to my brother from another over at Thoughts of 100k, I came across the new trailer for the remake to A Nightmare on Elm Street. I'm sure it's been out for a while now, but it's new for me, so please bare with me!

I remember being young and watching these movies in the Dominican Republic, scared straight! I'm really looking forward to the remake and really hope it doesn't get screwed up like many of the recent remakes...guess we'll have to wait and see.

Trailer looks promising though! Check it out below!

Leap Year

What's going on my fellow bloggers?! I hope everybody had a great holiday season and wish you all an extremely happy and safe New Year! May 2010 bring us all many great things and hopefully be 10x better then 2009.

Either way, I've been doing a lot of thinking and this trailer has got me thinking about something I want you all to weigh in on. How would men react to this? Ladies, would you do it? Watch the trailer so you understand. Thanks to Trailer Addict for the trailer!

So, the movie looks interesting and I'll probably go check it out, but it got me wondering, how would a guy react to this? Would ladies actually be inclined to do it? I know I would be taken aback and not sure if I would be comfortable having my girlfriend propose to me. Call me old fashion, but I want to have the honor of getting down on one knee and 'popping the question'. Let me hear your views and thoughts. This should get interesting.
